The GCEA monitors Civil Service proceedings, changes, and proposed modifications in retirement laws, workers' compensation and other laws that affect you, your family and your job.

Financial Employee Assistance Program

This is a financial Employee Assistance Program. An interest-free loan is available to GCEA members who meet the criteria set forth by the Employee Assistance Committee (EAC). GCEA members who desire to take out a loan must fill out an application for review and approval or denial of the loan by the EAP Committee.

Gym Reimbursement

GCEA members are entitled to gym fee reimbursement of up to $150.00/year. Members must show proof of payment and an attendance history requirement of 50 visits/year-gym of your choosing.

Insurance

Vision Care

An eye care group plan is available to all GCEA members. Discount rates include eyewear and exam. The premium for this coverage is payroll deductible.

Long Term Disability Insurance

This coverage is available to all GCEA members. Disability coverage pays 50% of the member's monthly salary with a 60% buy-up option. Your employer pays the premium for basic coverage.

Legal Assistance

A free phone consultation for legal assistance is available through the GCEA office to all GCEA members. Actual representation and rates may be discussed at the time of the initial contact with the attorney.

Mortuary Fund

The proceeds from this fund are payable to the beneficiary in the event of death, provided the deceased was a GCEA member and currently employed with the City. The beneficiary will be paid upon presentation of a certified death certificate or dated obituary. All monies from payroll assessments are received by the GCEA.

Newsletter

Each member may receive a hardcopy of the quarterly issue - upon request, otherwise it may be viewed on this website. Association members may place, free of charge, ads for: sale items, announcements, and personal interest articles that will inform, educate, and empower the membership.

Recreational and Social Activities

GCEA members may take part in a variety of events and activities such as bowling and golf tournaments, an annual picnic as well as Football Grid Pix.

GCEA members are entitled to discount tickets that include most: movie theatres, amusement parks, and water parks in Southern California. Please note: all ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

Retirement

The Public Employees' Retirement Betterment Committee is actively engaged in leading a statewide effort to upgrade the City Employees' Retirement System.
